How to combine work and study: tips for students

By: answerout

Almost all students face the need to combine work and study. What does it give them? An additional source of finances, necessary work experience, and better career prospects after graduation. Graduation with honors and a red diploma today does not guarantee a successful career start. A mere graduate with 2-3 years of real work experience in his or her field of study has a better chance of getting a job and moving up the career ladder.

How to combine work and study?

There are several ways for students to combine study and work. They depend on a variety of factors: type of education, course, specialty, and personal priorities.

Part-time students, as a rule, find it easier to solve the problem of their employment during their studies. The only significant problem for them is attending sessions and lectures: not all employers agree to let their employees go, even for a couple of weeks. Therefore, already during the interview, you should warn the potential employer about the need to attend university. Ideally, by the time of employment, you should know your study schedule clearly: the number of sessions, their duration, and approximate time.

Is it possible to combine work and study as an inpatient? Of course, yes. It's just a question of getting both processes right. Full-time students can choose one of three options:

  • Temporary part-time;
  • part-time employment;
  • full-time.

The last option is the most preferable, but also the most difficult. The highest chances of success, in this case, are for senior students. From about the third year you can count on a more loyal attitude of teachers, and successful employment in the specialty.

The only real opportunity to combine study on a full-time basis with a full-time job is a free schedule to attend college. Not all universities offer their students such an opportunity, so this point should be clarified in the dean's office in advance.

How to plan a work schedule?

Regardless of the type of employment and form of education, it is not possible to seamlessly combine the work schedule with the schedule of classes. Many companies today are willing to offer flexible schedules for students. Especially if they work 24/7. In this case, the number of working hours will still vary from 20 to 40 per week, and all tasks should be solved exactly in time.

University professors, in turn, can meet the needs of working students, but you should not expect serious indulgences. It is better to pass all modular works, tests, and exams the first time, without breaking the deadlines and requirements of the professor. Especially if you want to see decent marks on your report card, and then on the diploma. Some student choose to do everything by themselves, others use do my homework for me service

Therefore, young people, "torn" between the next lecture and a flyer in the office, have to quickly learn to prioritize. It is important to plan every day so that outside work you have enough time to study and to rest.

Companies that use the services of remote workers offer quite a comfortable work schedule for students. As a rule, such employment is offered to IT specialists, rarely to representatives of other areas. With a low workload at university, students can combine remote work with full attendance at lectures. In this case, the main condition remains the same: the quality and timely fulfillment of the assigned tasks.
